Hazardous Sludge Waste Treatment: Our client produces 100,000 tonnes per year of stainless steel acid sludge (hazardous waste, containing high concentrations of several toxic heavy metals) which had previously been taken to landfill.
Treatment: RAW Shanghai initially carried out treatability trials on the hazardous waste material using our bespoke designed reagents to provide our client a steel manufacturing company with the most cost effective treatment that met their treatment criteria. The treatment involved five main process stages:
- Sludge conditioning (reach 0-75mm)
- Homogenising and computer controlled reagent injection
- Specific Designed Reagent RAW C/P11)
- Treated waste curing
- Secondary physical grading and screening(reaching <3mm)
The treated material was validated using an independent accredited laboratory and the quality of the treatment process met the standards set out in:
- The identification standard of hazardous waste – identification of hazardous toxicity (GB 5085.3-2007)
- The Integrated Waste Water Discharge Standards (GB8978-1996)
- Discharge standard of water pollutants for the iron and steel industry
