Job type: Full Time
A challenging ‘dual’ role for a graduate engineer to add real commercial experience to a developing mainstream career, with Peak Scientific, the award-winning, International Technology Company.
Peak Scientific is a multi-award-winning company actively reshaping the global laboratory gas generator market through innovative product design and world class service; 90% of our products are sold overseas. Driven by a visionary management team, smart, dedicated people and a dynamic company ethos, our business is growing significantly. Our products offer superb technical performance and are smoother, quieter and more efficient than anything else in the market today.
Here’s a fascinating Manufacturing Engineering role, ideal for a graduate engineer looking to build on an engineering career by adding commercial and procurement expertise to early experience in a more mainstream role. Reporting to our Senior Manufacturing Engineer, the initial phase will involve a 12 – 18-month project, working in close liaison with our Procurement Manager to:
identify, evaluate and source significantly more cost-effective alternative components for our production process
design, specify and undertake testing to ensure appropriate function and fit.
ensure that both build operation and quality aren’t adversely affected
oversee the safe introduction of alternative componentry
liaise with relevant and interested parties to ensure effective implementation of alternative components
Thereafter, having realised vital cost savings, with a thorough knowledge of the company and our products and armed with stronger commercial skills, you’ll revert to a key role in Manufacturing Engineering.
With a good Degree in an Engineering discipline and at least a year’s postgraduate experience in industry, you have already got a real grasp of the materials and assembly process, underpinned by the ability to design tests to evaluate the suitability of alternative components. You have also begun to develop sound project management skills, preferably including component approval programmes, and are comfortable working with third parties, especially suppliers, on regulatory and statutory requirements. A first-class all-round communicator and influencer, able to engender buy-in across all disciplines and at all levels, your other attributes include:
the ability to co-ordinate design and operational colleagues to phase in new componentry
strong report-writing skills which can evince clear, auditable conclusions on the suitability, or otherwise, of alternative parts
a commitment to high-quality, professional manufacturing engineering
It’s a superb career development opportunity to develop with an expanding international company, within a very dynamic, energised and challenging environment. If you can see yourself playing a role in our global business, email your CV with a covering letter stating your current salary and package to: ftaylor@peakscientific.com
