Oakland Farm Eggs Ltd commissioned ACCON to
carry out a land quality risk assessment of the
proposed re-development at Southgrove Farm,
Burbage, Wiltshire.
Oakland Farm Eggs Ltd proposed to replace the
four existing obsolete poultry units with a single
building which replicates the footprint of the
existing units and which will comply with the
current animal welfare guidance.
ACCON undertook a full desk top survey of relevant
historic data and used the geological information to
develop a preliminary Conceptual Model of the site
which identified all potential and actual
contaminants, receptors and pathways (pollution
linkages). The investigation will be carried out in
accordance with BS 10175:2001 ‘Investigation of
potentially contaminated sites’.
Using the conceptual model a risk assessment of
the actual and potential pollution linkages were
identified and recommendations for further works,
where necessary were made.
The Phase 1 study had identified that the only
potential sources of contamination on site arise
from the historic and current practices of
agriculture and poultry farming.
